Book a Space
Rail Academy Newport is a multi-user training facility available to rail operators, employers, training providers, and any organisation delivering training, inductions or practical learning. All bookings are managed by the RAN Support Team.
How to Book
Booking a space at Rail Academy Newport is simple:
1. Become a Registered User
Organisations must be registered before making any bookings.
What to do first:
- Contact the RAN Support team to become a registered user
- Set up invoicing arrangements
- Confirm your trainers and assessors meet requirements
Trainer requirements
- Hold current first aid certification
- Accept and follow RAN’s policies and procedures
- Complete induction
Once your organisation is registered, you can book training rooms, practical zones and other spaces.
2. Submit a Booking Request
Email the RAN Support Team with:
- Training name or purpose of booking
- preferred space (training room, practical zone or simulator environment)
- dates and times
- participant numbers
- equipment or access requirements
3. Receive Confirmation
Once processed, a confirmation email will be issued and the booking will appear in your organisation’s calendar.

Practical Zone Requirements
All practical activities require:
- a confirmed zone booking
- appropriate safety documentation
- compliance with PPE requirements
- a trainer and assessor with first aid qualification
PPE Requirements
All visitors to Rail Academy Newport must comply with site PPE requirements.
- At a minimum, all visitors must wear closed-toe shoes while on site.
- Additional PPE may be required depending on the training activity and location.
- Participants are responsible for supplying their own PPE unless arrangements have been approved in advance.
- Training cannot commence if required PPE is not worn.

No. Rail Academy Newport is a training facility for hire. Training is delivered by rail operators, training providers and industry partners.
Can any organisation book the facility?
Yes. Any organisation can book spaces at Rail Academy Newport to deliver training, workshops or events.
Please note that access to some specialist equipment is reserved for qualified users.

Is Wi-Fi available?
Wi-Fi is not provided by RAN. Training providers must supply their own internet access if required for their course.
Do you provide PPE?
No. Participants must supply their own PPE where required.
Is parking available?
Yes. Free onsite parking is available during operating hours, including designated disability parking.
I completed training at RAN and need my certificate or Statement of Attainment. Can you provide it?
No. Please contact your employer or the training provider who delivered the course.
Are amenities available on site?
Yes. Accessible toilets, showers, meal rooms and break areas are available during operating hours.

Monday to Friday: 7.00 am – 4.00 pm
Closed weekends and public holidays.
Access to training rooms, practical zones, parking and amenities is only available during these hours.
