That’s a wrap for the 2024 Women in Transport Mentoring Program!
The LXRP Women in Transport (WiT) Programs team is proud to celebrate the successful conclusion of this year’s program, which supported over 400 participants on a transformative mentoring journey.
At the final hybrid event, participants reflected on their achievements, celebrated their mentors, and prepared to apply their new strategies and insights to the next phase of their careers.
The event, hosted by WiT team member Danielle Ryan-Gledhill, featured an inspiring lineup of speakers who shared insights, motivation, and practical advice to support mentees in their ongoing growth beyond the program.
Meg McCarroll from Work180 delivered a powerful keynote on the importance of sustained personal and professional development. She urged participants to avoid a drop in motivation after a program ends, by continuing to build networks, pay it forward, and engage allies on the journey toward gender equality.
A fireside chat followed, featuring mentoring participants Domenica, Simon, and Jessie, who discussed their transition from mentees to mentors and the impact of building lasting industry connections. Their stories highlighted how networking fosters supportive alliances within the field.
Teeshal Bal from Grit Leadership closed the event with a memorable message encouraging mentees to focus on their “gains” rather than perceived “gaps.” Her reminder that perfection is a journey inspired mentees to embrace progress over perfection.
Supporting the advancement of women wasn't the only social change inspired on the day, with the WiT Team engaging social enterprises STREAT and the Queen Victoria Women's Centre (QVWC) for hosting and delicious catering - helping to empower young people and women supported by these social enterprises.
As we gear up for the next round of the mentoring program, we look forward to welcoming new mentees and reconnecting with returning mentors when applications open on International Women’s Day 2025.
Here’s to continued growth, connection, and advancing gender equality in transport!
