WiT Mentoring Program's Networking Event

The WiT Programs Team successfully hosted the 2024 Women in Transport (WiT) Mentoring Program networking event at the beautiful QVWC on the 25th July.

This event brought together over 80 participants, including both mentees and mentors, who seized the opportunity to connect with colleagues from the transport and transport infrastructure industry.

The event commenced with an engaging fireside chat featuring Dishita Masalia from V/Line. Dishita, a WiT scholar and founding member of the V/Line Culture Council, earned her MBA through a scholarship while working full-time and recently returned to full-time work as a new parent. As a CaLD woman in transport, Dishita shared her inspiring journey, highlighting the importance of educating others, acknowledging good work, and providing positive feedback to boost confidence.

She emphasised the value of persistence through setbacks and noted that showing interest and enthusiasm is a positive attribute that leaders cannot ignore.

Participants navigated four rounds of structured networking, commencing with a reflection of the fireside chat then discussing career goals, positioning for senior roles, inclusive leadership, and strategies for navigating gender bias within the industry. One of the event's highlights was elevating the voice of WiT mentee Cheaw Lin Tang (MTM), who is on her own public speaking journey and helped run the event, shining brightly in her role.

Feedback from the event included praise for the guided questions, rotating structure, and welcoming atmosphere, with a Net Promoter Score of +84.6, indicating an extremely high likelihood of future attendance.
